Checkouts

  • Books may be checked out for two weeks at a time. If another student has the item on “hold”, then the item may not be renewed, but must pass to the next student on the list. Some reference books and magazines may be checked out for a few days, with the exception of current issue magazines (cannot be checked out).

Holds

  • Any circulating book or tape may be placed on “hold” which creates a waiting list for the item. When the item is returned, the librarian will notify the next student on the waiting list by sending a notice to the student’s class.

Overdue Items

  • Overdue notices go out Mondays to teachers. Students are responsible for any notices they receive. If a student believes they have received a notice in error, it is the student’s responsibility to notify the library of the dispute. Disputes are resolved on a case by case basis. Additional library materials may not be checked out while there are overdue items on an account.

Returning Materials

  • Materials need to be returned or renewed by the due date. Materials can be returned to the checkout desk slot in the library.

Overdue Fees and Damaged or Lost Items

  • There are no overdue fees. Damaged or lost items are assessed at the price for a new replacement.

Come and Visit Us in the Library!

  • Students from Kindergarten through 6th grade have regular weekly library time. The upper classes come for extended periods connected to read or research. . All students may visit the library during posted open check-out times to borrow materials; this is strongly recommended. Although there is a limit on the number of books that students may borrow, this can be altered for holidays or special reasons. The library staff encourages students to have books to read at all times and parents might wish to borrow materials for read-a-louds.
